Legacy Giving

Your giving is making a difference!

We are so grateful for the generosity of people that enable Crossgate Church
to bring practical and spiritual help across a wide range of ministries that make Crossgate Church home to many.

A gift in your Will can be the single most valuable donation you make. Making or amending your Will to leave a gift to Crossgate Church is one of the kindest gestures you could ever make. It’s easy to arrange with the help of a solicitor, and needn’t cost a lot of money.

Your family’s needs come first of course, when it comes to your Will, we understand that the needs of your loved ones will always be paramount. But once you’ve looked after those closest and dearest to you, leaving a gift to Crossgate Church could make a dramatic difference to so many lives, at every age.

Having a written Will allows the people and causes we care about to be adequately provided for and legally protected. It is important to review your Will from time to time to ensure that it still reflects your wishes particularly if your circumstances change.

We are grateful for gifts of any amount at Crossgate Church, we’re so thankful for every gift that donors choose to include in their Wills. What’s more, your gift doesn’t have to be large to make a difference. Whatever you’re able to leave will help create a lifetime of possibilities for a diverse range of people.

We would encourage you to receive legal advice from your solicitor, when preparing your will to ensure that it is clearly worded and can be validly executed. This will also assist in ensuring that all aspects of your assets and all persons for whom you should provide are carefully considered. When your Will has been completed it should be kept in a safe place. Your solicitor’s office or local bank may be able to facilitate this. It is also important to ensure that someone you trust and the person you select as an executor of your will is informed of its whereabouts.

What type of gifts can you leave?

Thank you for your generosity in considering a bequest to Crossgate Church. It is very much appreciated. There are a number of options to consider when deciding how to include Crossgate Church in your Will. These could include:

Residual Gift

After you have first and foremost provided for your loved ones, you can leave a share of what remains to Crossgate Church. This is known as a ‘residuary gift’. The suggested wordings of a bequest of this nature would be similar to the below.

‘Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give (the whole/insert percentage value) of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will to Crossgate Church, Benchmark, 25 Ribbleton Street, Preston, PR1 5BA, registered charity number: 1119350, for the general purposes of Crossgate Church, and I declare that the receipt of their Executive Pastor or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.’

Cash Gift

This is where you can leave a gift of any type for the use of Crossgate Church.

The suggested wordings of a bequest of this nature would be similar to the below:
‘I give to Crossgate Church of Benchmark, 25 Ribbleton Street, Preston. PR1 5BA, registered charity number 1119350, absolutely (write in here whatever you wish to give) for the purpose  Crossgate Church, and I declare that the receipt of their Executive pastor or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.’

Pecunirary Gift

Also known as a cash gift, this is where you can leave an exact sum of money to Crossgate Church.

The suggested wordings of a bequest of this nature would be similar to the below:
‘I give free of tax to Crossgate Church of Benchmark, 25 Ribbleton Street, Preston, PR1 5BA, registered charity number 1119350, the sum of £________ for the purposes of Crossgate Church, and I declare that the receipt of their Chief Financial Officer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.’

Gift In Trust

You can leave a gift for someone to use over a period of time. When the time has ended, the gift can be passed on to other recipients, such as a Crossgate Church.

How will my gift be used?

A bequest to us will be used to pursue the primary objectives as set out by our trust deed:

1. The advancement of Christian Faith.
2. The relief of persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress or who are aged or sick.
3. The advancement of education on the basis of Christian principles
